The Barn
This week I just want to keep my viewers (if any) on an update in my life. Currently the main thing going on in my life is the restoration of a barn we recently discovered. Well, it starts off with my church Southeast Baptist Tabernacle. The church recently just purchased a house and its large amount of property, from one of the neighbors. The man is growing old, and decided to sell his property to the church for a bargain of a price, while he spends his time now in a retirement home. The property includes the house, a large yard and at the back of the yard a two-story abandoned barn. The church bought the house as a way to shelter missionaries when they visit and give a nice play to stay. Well, there are currently no plans for the barn scheduled. So, myself and my best friend Matt went to the barn to take a look. It was beat-down about as far as it could go. We climbed to the upstairs and found a big room. The corners are a place not to stand with many holes, but the rest of the floor is dirty but in decent shape. If you look up on the wall there is an old basketball goal nailed to the wall. Shooting on the goal makes you feel like you play for the "Hickory" team from the famous sports movie, "Hoosiers." Matt and I have agreed to take the project on hands on and totally restore the upstairs into a decent basketball court, where the floor will hold up. This past Saturday we cleaned most of the floor up, where the vintage wood is being shown now. We now know what we working with in terms of repairing the floor. We planned to put some laminate down on the wood and make it look like a nice court. Much like "Airbud" found a secret basketball court, we did as well. The project will be hard but we have a vision, and will not stop till we get there.

Hey it's Molly from class! I thought this was a pretty cool post. I remember in Creative Writing reading something you wrote about the barn. It's neat hearing more about it and what you're doing with it. Maybe you guys can post progress pictures of the barn! I think it would be cool to see.
ReplyDeleteThis is Nathan from class. This sounds like a cool project. I remember my cousin had a house with a barn with a basketball goal. Good luck restoring that barn. I can't wait to hear how it turns out.
